Artificial Turf in Sacramento's Older Neighborhoods: Land Park, Curtis Park & Oak Park

Sacramento central neighborhood Land Park Curtis Park turf installation

I get calls from Land Park and Curtis Park homeowners every week. These are beautiful neighborhoods — mature trees, craftsman homes, yards with real character. They're also some of the trickier installs we do, and I want to be straight about why.

The Tree Root Problem

A lot of homes here have oak, elm, and liquid amber trees that have been growing for 60+ years. Those roots travel. Before we put a single piece of turf down, we do a full assessment because surface roots that get ignored will lift turf within a few years. In some cases we recommend root barriers. In others, we design around the trees with gravel in the root zones and turf in the open areas.

It's not always the answer people want, but it's the honest one.

Older Soil in Central Sacramento

The soil in these neighborhoods drains differently than newer developments. We've found everything from old clay layers to remnants of previous landscaping. Our base preparation here is more thorough — we excavate deeper and don't rush the sub-base process.

Smaller Lots, Bigger Impact

Most front yards here are 400–800 sq ft — a great size for turf. Manageable cost, dramatic visual improvement. A clean turf lawn next to craftsman architecture genuinely looks great.

No HOA Headaches

There's no blanket HOA in these neighborhoods, so you typically don't need approval. We handle all city edging requirements as part of every install.
